Grace Community Baptist Church
STAFF

Guy Holloway - guy@gracerichmond.org

Pastor Guy Holloway is a home grown Richmonder. He met his amazing wife Gay when they were students at Baylor University in Texas. Their desire to follow Christ wherever He would lead brought them back to Richmond where Guy served as Singles Pastor at an area church. In April of 1985, sensing a need for another Bible believing, New Testament church in the West End of Richmond; Guy, Gay and a few other couples started Grace. Guy's heart has always been about "making disciples" and many of us here are the product of his consistent application of that desire. We believe God's heart beats with the same desire.

Guy loves old stuff, particularly restoring old cars and finding treasure in antique shops. When he gets a few days off he can often be found hiking somewhere in the Blue Ridge mountains.

Larry Pumpelly - larry@gracerichmond.org

Larry joined our staff as Education/Missions Pastor in July of 2005. It doesn't take long in any conversation with Larry to find out that he loves his family, Africa, the outdoors, and Ohio State football. Larry and his wife Sharon invested 25 years with the International Mission Board beginning in Uganda and continuing in Kenya before spending some time in Richmond on the regional leadership team for Eastern and Southern Africa. The stories that Larry and Sharon have of God's activity in Africa are incredible to listen to. Long before Africa's AIDS problem became a major news item in the U.S. Larry, and particularly Sharon, were influencing nations and individual lives in Africa with the message of "True Love Waits." They have been a huge asset in Grace's commitment to discipleship.

Larry and Sharon have four children and two beautiful grandchildren. Its fair to say that this family owns more Ohio State 2002 National Championship clothing than anyone else in the Richmond area.

Ed Martin - ed@gracerichmond.org

Ed joined our staff in February 2006 as our first full-time Youth Pastor. Ed grew up in Richmond. Later, he met a great woman, Katie, while they were students at Carson Newman in Tennessee. They grew together through ministry while in college and invested a summer as Centrifuge (summer camp) staff members. Katie worked as an elementary school teacher while Ed was attending Southeastern Seminary, which he finished in May of 2005. The Lord added to their blessings in December of 2005 when little Micah was born.

Both Ed and Katie love Christ, His Word, and the students that He has entrusted to them. We are excited to add another staff person who is serious about making disciples. Ed enjoys mountain biking, good stories, movies that provide teaching material, and big vision.

Greg Pinkard - worship@gracerichmond.org

Greg leads our worship ministry in a part-time position. He loves the scripture and using it to focus our Sunday worship. He met his incredible wife Sherry in picturesque Blackburg as Virginia Tech Hokies. They married soon after graduation. They've been affilated with Grace for many years. Sherry is and has been invaluable to Grace, serving in too many capacities to list. Greg focused mostly on youth ministry until more recently when a desire to serve the worship ministry led to this leadership position. God has blessed them with Emily and Jared, both of whom add incredible fun and variety to their home.

Before he was interested in music, Greg loved sports, particularly baseball. Since it has become evident that the Orioles have ignored his aging talent, his current "get me outside" activities are cycling, running, and backpacking. Although a full-time financial advisor, the closest he's come to fame and fortune was in high school, where he knew J.D. Gibbs (NASCAR) and Toby McKeehan (Toby Mac).

Gay Holloway - gay@gracerichmond.org

Gay is our Worship Assistant. She's always loved music and drama and though her major was Elementary Education at Baylor the music won out. She remembers a tall, shy, young man who came to her church at Baylor while she was singing in the choir as a freshman. During that year, God's grace led them into ministry together locally around Baylor as well as a witnessing trip during spring break. The next year they started dating and now, 30+ years of marriage and 3 great daughters later, Guy and Gay are continuing to enjoy God's goodness.

Mattie Collins - mattie@gracerichmond.org

Mattie (Linda) has been serving as our Children's Director for many years. She loves the opportunity to be a part of the process of helping kids get acquainted with Jesus and learn about His plan for their lives. Mattie is a Richmond native and graduate of Longwood University. In 1979 at Grove Avenue Baptist Church, she met a single guy from North Carolina named Tom who was seeking to follow Christ. While they were singles, they were instrumental in bringing Grove's first Singles Pastor (Guy Holloway) to Richmond. A few years later, Tom and Mattie were married and have 3 lovely daughters: Anna, Mary, and Sarah, who they have prayed for, directed, and pointed to the Lord. Mattie enjoys chocolate, good books, bike riding, yard work, and seeing new places.

Brenda Burnett - grace@gracerichmond.org

Brenda serves as our Office Manager, but that title doesn't do her justice. Her cheerful, consistent demeanor along with her wisdom and competence is a great gift that God has given us. Brenda grew up here in western Henrico, attended Henrico County Schools and then VCU. While living in northern Virginia, she met her husband Paul at a Bible study and they were married in 1986. They have two great children, Rachel, an Early Education major at VCU, and Daniel, currently majoring in "fishing" while deciding his career path. Over the years Brenda has been involved in many areas of ministry nurturing and discipling children, from VBS to Bible clubs to Sunday school to more recently preschool ministry. She enjoys local history, old movies, hiking, yard work, and traveling anywhere (i.e. getting out of the office!).
